Transitional Year – Rotations
The transitional year program at HGMC offers a wide breadth of training across internal medicine, emergency medicine, general surgery, medicine subspecialties, and a variety of elective rotations. There are many elective opportunities available to residents to expand and discover new interests. The transitional year curriculum is tailored to meet all ACGME requirements for PGY-2 advancement in many different specialties such as radiology, anesthesiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Core Rotations (Completed in 4-week blocks)
Internal Medicine, 12 weeks
ICU/Pulmonary, 4 weeks
Cardiology, 4 weeks
Emergency Medicine, 4 weeks
Surgery (General or Orthopedic), 4 weeks
OB/GYN and Pediatrics (Nursery), 4 weeks
Outpatient primary care clinic, 4 weeks
Elective Options (3 blocks, 4 weeks each). Not an exhaustive list:
