Endocrinology Fellowship Overview

PROGRAM GOALS

The Mission of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Fellowship and KPC Health in Hemet, California is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based clinical experience to train outstanding endocrine subspecialist physicians who help people achieve healthy and productive lives.

PROGRAM AIMS:
  1.   To improve the quality of care for patients treated at Hemet Global Medical Center that suffer from Type I or II diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid conditions, metabolic syndrome, and other endocrine disorders. 

  2.   To improve access to specialty care for patients in Hemet and the surrounding communities, as this is a medically underserved area.  

  3.   To offer more comprehensive and in-depth training opportunities for medical students, residents and residency graduates so they may learn to effectively manage endocrine disorders.

TRAINING SITES & ROTATIONS

There are two main sites of training for the Endocrinology Fellowship: Hemet Global Medical Center (HGMC) and Seven Star Medical Group in Hemet, CA.  Hemet Global Medical Center is a 327-bed hospital founded in 1943 and is fully accredited by the Joint Commission.  

The two years of training will consist of 13, 4-week blocks.  Fellows will complete inpatient and outpatient duties simultaneously with more emphasis on one each block. The Inpatient Blocks will focus on Inpatient Rounds and consults at HGMC, while the outpatient blocks will consist of clinics including diabetes, endocrine, thyroid, pediatric diabetes, andrology, pituitary, and wound & obesity, and will occur at Seven Star Medical Group.  Research will be conducted during all blocks with more outpatient commitments.

PGY4: 
  • IP Rounds/Consults at HGMC – 6 blocks

  • OP Clinics at Seven Start Medical Group – 6 blocks

  • Vacation/Conference – 1 block

PGY5:
  • IP Rounds/Consults at HGMC – 6 blocks

  • OP Clinics at Seven Start Medical Group – 6 blocks

  • Vacation/Conference – 1 block

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must have:

  • *Completed a U.S. residency in internal medicine

  • Board-certification or board-eligibility in internal medicine

  • Proof of passing the three-step United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE).

* Applicants with 3 years of international internal medicine training will also be considered in accordance with ACGME Guidelines.

Biography: Dr. Haider is board certified in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. She has extensive experience in helping patients take control of their complex endocrine conditions. She has trained and mentored many medical students, resident physicians, Endocrinology fellows and nurse practitioners. Additionally, Dr. Haider has authored several research papers, disease management protocols, and clinical treatment algorithms. She actively participates in community outreach programs aimed at educating the general public and assisting primary care physicians. Her quest for personal and professional growth, family wellbeing, and optimal work-life balance, has brought her to the communities of Menifee and Hemet.
